Ideology and politics is an important discipline to cultivate students’ legal awareness and rule of law thinking, which has a greater value of nurturing. In this paper, under the threshold of ideology and politics education, a questionnaire survey is conducted on the current situation of students’ legal awareness and its influencing factors, and a multivariate logistic regression model is set up to investigate the influencing factors of students’ legal awareness with the elements of ideology and politics education as the independent variable and the level of legal awareness as the dependent variable. At present, students’ legal awareness is more general, students have certain legal knowledge, most of the related test questions are correct at more than 50%, but they still lack in legal application and legal psychology. The curriculum, teaching methods, teacher level and campus culture of Civic Education are positively correlated with the level of students’ legal awareness, in which the curriculum and teaching methods have significant differences on the level of legal awareness of the investigated students with statistical significance (p < 0.05), and there are partially significant effects on the level of teachers and campus culture. In order to effectively cultivate students’ legal awareness, schools should improve the curriculum and teaching methods of Civics and Political Science, strengthen the construction of faculty, and emphasize the construction of campus culture.
